Ubud is a town located in central Bali, known for its serene scenic beauty, lively culture, and vast spiritual heritage. It is a popular destination among tourists and travelers who seek to immerse themselves in Balinese traditional ways of life. The small town is surrounded by lush green rice paddies and gently rolling hills where visitors can enjoy several outdoor activities such as cycling, yoga, and trekking.

Visitors may also experience some of the town's significant cultural heritage by witnessing the traditional performances, dance shows, and temple festivals. Additionally, Ubud has numerous art museums, galleries, and studios where visitors can interact with local artists and learn about various Balinese art forms, such as woodcarving, painting, and sculpture. Overall, Ubud provides a unique blend of leisure, culture, and spirituality, making it a perfect place to learn about Balinese culture.

Wenara Bali Bungalows

For more affordable options, there are hostels such as Puri Bunga Inn and Kelapa House, as well as homestays like Kebun Indah and Lagas Hostel. Places To Visit:

Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary

The Monkey Forest in Bali is a nature reserve and temple complex located in the central part of Ubud. It is home to over 700 long-tailed macaques, which roam freely throughout the park. The forest is a popular tourist attraction where visitors can witness the playful and mischievous nature of these creatures up close. But be warned anything left unattended, or food will be easy prey for these mischievous monkeys. They warn you on the way in but these monkeys are quite cheeky. The Monkey Forest also serves as a site for conservation efforts and religious ceremonies, making it an important cultural hub in Bali. With its lush greenery, intriguing wildlife and cultural significance, the Monkey Forest Bali is truly a must-visit destination for any traveler.

Another popular attraction is the Tegalalang Rice Terraces, an awe-inspiring landscape of cascading rice paddies that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills. There is also a place where you can customize your own concrete blocks that they use to pave new paths through the fields so you can leave your unique mark on Bali.

Additionally, the Goa Gajah Temple, a historic cave shrine adorned with intricate carvings, offers an enchanting glimpse into Bali's rich cultural heritage. Just note if you are a female visiting the temple they will not let you in if you are menstruating. They have clothing regulations as well so its best to book a tour so they can give you the proper attire.

Any cooking classes we highly recommend. Our favorite is The Paon Bali Cooking Class. This class takes you through a traditional Bali market and teaches you about different fruits vegetables, meats and spices in Balinese dishes. You will get to see the different types of ingredients native to their cooking. After that you are taken and taught how to make each dish by watching and doing yourself. You will see cooking techniques, flavor building and methods that will blow your mind. The best part is you get to eat all of the food you've created at the end! If you love food and learning about culture through food this is a must do while in Ubud.
